The protective Azawakh is known for its energetic, independent and enigmatic nature. They are reserved around strangers, but devoted and affectionate toward their families; confident and strong, they are also gentle and sensitive. As such, an Azawakh owner needs to find a good balance between firmness and encouragement in order for Azawakhs to reach their potential. The Azawakh prefers heat to cold, and avoids rain and inclement weather at all costs. It also needs plenty of exercise, so make sure you can provide a consistent physical outlet.
